Massive Cargo Planes : Inside C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster That Carries US President’s Limousines
Inside C-5 Galaxy, Boeing C-17 Globemaster military aircrafts that carries the US President’s motorcade around the world.
When used to transport the U.S President, the large military aircrafts temporarily gain the “Air Force” One call sign.

The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy or the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing C-17 Globemaster III cargo planes accompanies the President of the United States whenever he travels within the country or abroad to bring the presidential motorcades.
The military cargo planes are deployed to deliver part of the Presidential motorcades and military helicopters such as Marine One and Osprey helicopters ahead of the U.S president’s arrival.

Pictures shared shows two armoured presidential limousines nicknamed The Beast being loaded into the C-5 Galaxy and the C-17 military cargo planes. The one with the president is referred to as the “Stagecoach” while the other one that act as a backup and decoy is called “Spare”.
Also with the presidential Limo’s are black SUVs carrying personal security detail, a rapid reaction Counter Assault Teams (CAT), command and control elements, the communications vehicle, intelligence personnel and countermeasures vehicles.

When used to transport the President of the United States himself, the large military transport aircrafts temporarily gain the “Air Force” One call sign while doing so.
Developed by Boeing, the C-17 Globemaster III can carry a payload of up to 164,900 pounds (74,797 kg) while the C-5 Galaxy developed by Lockheed (now Lockheed Martin) has a cargo load of 281,001 pounds (127,460 kilograms).

Depending on the source and configuration, the cost of a single C-17 aircraft is around $211 million to $255 million, while the C-5 Galaxy cargo plane costs between US$100m – US$262m per unit.
The C-17 Globemaster III has a maximum speed of approximately 630 miles per hour (1,014 km/h) at 33,000 feet (10,058 meters) while the C-5 Galaxy has a maximum speed of approximately 630 miles per hour (1,014 km/h) at 28,000 feet (8,534 meters).
