The “Air Force One”, the United States Air Force aircraft used for carrying the president of the United States, is arguably the world’s most popular and secretive Presidential jet plane.
Since 1990, the presidential fleet has consisted of two highly customized Boeing 747-200B (VC-25A) with tail codes 28000 and 29000 — known by call sign “Air Force One” when it carries the U.S President.
Inside the mobile White House in the sky, the President and his travel companions enjoy 4,000 square feet of floor space on three levels, including an extensive suite for the President that features a large office, press room and conference room.
The spacious jet also boasts a private suite that has foldable couches, bathrooms, kitchen, two galleys that can handle up to 100 meals at one sitting and Medical Center equipped with drugs, defibrillator and supply of blood.

In addition, the “Air Force One” also features Highly-secure communications equipment, which allows the US president to conduct sensitive government business from the air and direct a federal response to a national emergency.
The “flying Oval Office” can also operate as an airborne military command centre, allowing the president to place secure phone calls to world leaders and receive private, classified briefings.
The 232-foot long aircraft is powered by four jet engines that gives a maximum top speed of 630 miles per hour (Mach 0.92). It will fly 7,800 miles fully-fueled and can also be refueled in-air in case of emergency.
It costs around $177,000 (₦278m) per hour to keep the ultimate in presidential privileges in the air – though the USAF has ordered two Boeing 747-8s at the cost of $3.9 billion. The two new Boeing 747-8s aircrafts are expected to be delivered in 2027, 2028.
