Mercedes-Maybach Creates Unique Yacht-inspired S-Class To Celebrate 150th Anniversary Of Robbe & Berking

Mercedes-Maybach creates unique Yacht-inspired S-Class S 680 to celebrate 150th anniversary of Robbe & Berking. 

One-off Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S 680 anniversary vehicle inspired by the design of the legendary SPHINX 12mR yacht.

SPHINX, known as the “night-blue beauty”, was the first classic wooden yacht that Robbe & Berking restored.

Restoration of the racing 12mR yacht led to the founding of the Robbe & Berking Classics shipyard in 2008. 

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Robbe & Berking, Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled a one-off Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S 680 ultra-luxury sedan inspired by the design of the legendary SPHINX 12mR yacht.

Built in 1939, the legendary 21.48 metre (70.47 feet) long SPHINX 12mR yacht, known as the “night-blue beauty”, was the first classic wooden yacht that Robbe & Berking restored. Its restoration led to the founding of the Robbe & Berking Classics shipyard in 2008.

Like the SPHINX yacht, the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 anniversary vehicle boasts a two-tone paint finish consisting of nautical blue metallic in the upper section and a patagonia red bright in the lower section of the bodywork.

Inside, the interior of the one-off Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is finished in Maybach’s Exclusive nappa leather in crystal white with diamond quilting.

In addition, the seats, headliner, door centre panels and storage compartment under the central display are upholstered in this fine material.
