“I am thrilled to announce my preorder of Alef, @AlefAeronautics, the first FAA-approved flying electric car! A testament to our boundless future—flying cars aren’t just for sci-fi anymore.
“For years, I’ve been an advocate for electric vehicles, and I was the first to own one in Nigeria. Here’s to the next leap in transportation. Africa, we rise! Excited to bring this revolution to Nigeria, and I hope the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), @NigeriaCAA, is ready.”
Ben Bruce’s announcement comes days after Autojosh shared the news that California-based Alef Aeronautics has received a limited Special Airworthiness Certification from US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to legally fly its two-seater Alef Model A over the United States.
“We’re excited to receive this certification from the FAA,” said Jim Dukhovny, CEO of Alef Aeronautics.
“It allows us to move closer to bringing people an environmentally friendly and faster commute, saving individuals and companies hours each week. This is one small step for planes, one giant step for cars.”
The Model A has a projected starting price of $300,000. According to the firm, pre-order for ‘Priority Queues’ goes for $1500 while ‘General Queues’ is $150, the latter of which Ben Bruce went for.
Alef Aeronautics claims that its electric Model A with Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) capabilities can transition seamlessly from highway to air to beat heavy traffic.
Dubbed as ‘the world’s first real flying car’, the vehicle can carry one-to-two occupants. On full charge, it has a driving range of 200 miles (322 km) and a flight range of 100 miles (160km).
