Redline Rail from Agbado in Ogun State to Iddo in Lagos State to commence 2-months test-run next week – LASG.
LASG says various interest groups and stakeholders will take a ride on the train for a period of two months to have a feel of the service.
President Tinubu had on February 29th inaugurated the first phase of the much-anticipated Lagos Red Line Rail Project.
The phase of the 37-kilometre redline rail is expected to reduce travel time along the corridor to just 40 minutes.
The Lagos State Government has announced that the 27 kilometres, first phase of the newly commissioned Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Redline Rail will commence a 2-months test run next week.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso disclosed this at a Press Briefing on Thursday April 18th 2024 tagged : “Year 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing”.
According to the Commissioner, various interest groups and stakeholders will be invited to take a ride on the train for a period of two months to give them a feel of the service the mode of transportation will render on the corridor.
Responding to an inquiry on the state of the roads leading to the Redline train terminal, Omotoso noted that the train was part of the intermodal transportation system and as such connecting roads to rail and ferry facilities will be fixed for easy access.
On the Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Lekki Airport, Omotoso said foreign investors will arrive next week to deliberate on the mode and sources of funding for the projects, which are positioned to change the economy of the State.
Newly Commissioned Lagos Red Line Rail (Phase 1)
It will be recalled that President Bola Tinubu on February 29th inaugurated the first phase of the much-anticipated Red Line Rail project, which is expected to reduce travel time along the corridor to just 40 minutes.
The newly commissioned Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line Rail phase 1 is part of the 37-kilometre North South rail route that runs from Agbado in Ogun State to Marina in the heart of Lagos.
It has 8 stations at Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and Oyingbo and it traverses a distance of 27 kilometres from Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo, Lagos.
The first phase of the Lagos Red Line trains is projected to run 37 trips and carry more than 500,000 passengers per day and more 1 million passengers per day when fully operational.
