Ian Cameron, a former Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, was tragically murdered in his £3m mansion in Bavaria on Friday July 12th, with police now launching a manhunt for the killer alleged to be a car thief.

During the attack, police says Ian’s wife managed to escape over a wall to the neighbour’s house before alerting alert authorities.

The killer, who reportedly escaped on foot, is said to have cut the power cable for surveillance cameras over the garages where he kept his expensive vehicles.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Rolls-Royce CEO Chris Brownridge said :

“I was deeply shocked by the reports from Germany concerning lan Cameron, who was the Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars from 1999 – 2012. Ian played a significant role in shaping Rolls-Royce from when it was first acquired by BMW Group and moved to its Home at Goodwood, West Sussex.

“During Ian’s tenure, he led the design team for all Phantom family and Ghost models, creating thoroughly contemporary motor cars that remained sympathetic to the marque’s design lineage. My thoughts are with Ian’s family and friends during this very difficult time.”

Cameron retired from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in 2013 after 20 years at the company. His work includes the design of the BMW 3 Series and Z8, as well as Phantom and Ghost before retiring from the company in 2013.
