Designed work by Pininfarina and offered as either a 2+2 coupé or cabriolet, the Ferrari Mondial was produced between 1980 and 1993.

Last week, a Ferrari delegation, led by Chairman John Elkann and Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna, showed off the all-new 2027 Ferrari Luce to Pope Leo XIV at his residence in Castel Gandolfo.
During the meeting, Ferrari not only allowed Pope Leo to sit at the driver’s seat of the Ferrari Luce sports car but also gifted him the steering wheel of the Italian brand’s first fully electric car.

This symbolic gesture reflects a long-standing relationship between the Ferrari leadership and the Vatican – highlighted by Pope John Paul II’s visit to the Maranello factory in 1988.
During the historic visit, Pope John Paul II tour the brand’s factory in a customized open-top Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet driven by Piero, the son of Enzo Ferrari, where thousands of cheering workers had gathered to see him.

Designed work by Pininfarina and offered as either a 2+2 coupé or cabriolet, the rare Ferrari Mondial (Type F108) is a mid-engined 2+2 convertible grand tourer produced between 1980 and 1993.
The Italian brand’s historical ties with the Vatican also led to the presentation of the 400th and final production Ferrari Enzo to John Paul II in January 2005, which was later auctioned at the Pope’s request, with all proceeds benefiting victims of the 2004 South Asian tsunami.
