Volkswagen Group Had Slightly Improved Sales

Volkswagen Group said it slightly increased sales in the first nine months of this year, as challenging conditions in China and the US outweighed higher shipments to South America and Europe.
In the nine months ending in September, the VW Group delivered a total of 6.6 million vehicles to customers, 1.2 percent more than in the same period last year.
Better results in South America and Western, Central, and Eastern Europe more than compensated for reduced shipments to China and North America, management said.
In the first nine months of this year, the group delivered 717,500 electrically powered vehicles (BEVs), 41.7 percent more than last year. At the same time, deliveries of electric vehicles in Europe jumped by 78 percent, and in the USA by 85 percent, the company announced.
“We partially compensated for the challenging conditions in China and the USA by increasing sales in South America and Europe. In our home region of Europe, we achieved sales growth of eight percent in the third quarter alone,” commented Marco Schubert, member of the extended executive board of the VW Group, on the business results.
In the third quarter, the VW Group delivered 2.2 million vehicles to customers worldwide, one percent more than in the same period last year. At the same time, 252,100 electric vehicles were delivered, 33.1 percent more compared to the third quarter of last year, according to data from the giant of the German auto industry.
