General Motors (GM) has unveiled the refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD heavy-duty work trucks, arriving to take on the recently released 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD and 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty. The latest 2024-model-year debuted with new exterior design, a high-tech interior, two new trims including AT4X and Denali Ultimate, as well as improved towing.
The heavy-duty GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD is available in 4 trims, including the SLE and SLT, as well as the arrival of the premium GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate and GMC Sierra HD AT4X off-roader.
“The new and enhanced 2024 Sierra HD builds on an already winning foundation,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC.
“This truck elevates the HD segment with the introductions of the Denali Ultimate trim and will soon add the seriously off-road capable AT4X trim, further strengthening the dominance of the GMC truck portfolio.”
On the outside, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD boasts a new exterior design, including a revised front bumper, fascia and grille designs, as well as six new exterior colors.
The Denali Ultimate models – dubbed as the most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class – features Vader chrome exterior bits, 20-inch Ultra-bright wheels, and an Alpine Umber interior.
Inside, the heavy-duty truck gets a 16-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats, a microsuede headliner and a power sunroof. It is available with an optional 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen interface, 15-inch head-up display, and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The infotainment system is integrated with Google built-in and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Speaking of trailering, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD can tow up to 21,900 pounds in 2500HD Crew Cab, 22,500 pounds for the 2500HD and 36,000 pounds for 3500HD when equipped with a gooseneck hitch and the V8 diesel engine.
2024 GMC Sierra HD is available with a host of trailering assistance technologies, including Transparent Trailer View, Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering, as well as up to 14 cameras, which provides guidance for the hitching process and a view of the bed.
Standard safety systems include Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam auto high beams, and Following Distance Indicator.
Powering the 2024 GMC Sierra HD is a naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. This is joined by an optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.
The 2024 Sierra HD lineup includes 2500HD and 3500HD models in Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab configurations – with dual-rear-wheel models available on 3500HD.
The refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD arrives at dealerships in the first quarter of 2023, with the off-road AT4X coming later in 2023. Pricing will be announced closer to the start of production.
