The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says from April 2021, no National Identification Number (NIN), no vehicle registration.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says, starting April 2021, the presentation of valid National Identification Number (NIN) would be required for the registration of all categories of vehicles.

This was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, Bisi Kazeem. Kazeem said the move is in total compliance with the presidential directives on harmonisation of citizens’ data.

Part of the statement reads :

“Beginning from the second quarter of this year (2021), if you want to register your vehicle, it is going to be compulsory for you to provide your NIN. This is part of the security checks,”

“So once you provide your NIN, it makes the matter easier and helps the government in national planning, critical decision making and also enhance adequate Intelligence gathering for the security of lives and properties.”

The Corps warned that there will be no waivers for anyone, irrespective of their status in the society.

Recall that on the December 21. 2020, FRSC mandated that all applicants for the National Driver’s Licence must present their NIN before they can be captured for any class of licence.
