Lamborghini Restarts Aventador Production To Replace The 15 That Sank With 4,000 Other Cars
Discontinued Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae going back into production to replace the 15 lost during sinking of cargo ship.
The 15 Aventador Ultimae were amongst nearly 4,000 VW Group vehicles that sunk with Felicity Ace into the Atlantic Ocean.
189 Bentleys, over 1,000 Porsches, dozen Lamborghinis and several rows of VW and Audi cars also sank with the burnt Cargo ship.
Earlier this month, a cargo ship Felicity Ace containing nearly 4,000 Volkswagen Group vehicles, sunk off the Portuguese Azores archipelago, nearly two weeks after it caught fire.
The vessel was transporting around 4,000 cars, including Porsches, Audis, Lamborghinis and Bentleys, from German port to Rhode Island in the United States when it caught fire in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Speaking to Automotive News at Audi’s annual press conference, CEO Stephan Winkelmann, explained that the lost Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Sports cars, which was closing the production of the model, will be built up from scratch.
Winkelmann says :
“This was the edition which was closing the production of the Aventador, and there were 15 on board the ship. We put our heads together, and luckily, we are able to replace those cars, so there will be no loss for our customers in the US due to the sunken ship. This is good news.”
The 15 Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Sports cars were amongst nearly 4,000 Volkswagen Group vehicles that sunk with Felicity Ace into the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
About 189 Bentleys, over 1,000 Porsches, several dozen Lamborghinis and several rows of Volkswagen and Audi cars also went down with the burnt Cargo ship into the Atlantic Ocean.
German automaker Audi still doesn’t know what caused the Felicity Ace to catch fire, but the burning lithium-ion batteries from the many electric and hybrid vehicles in the cargo ship reportedly made fighting the blaze difficult.
