Mercedes-Benz has surprised German professional golfer Bernhard Langer with a special version of the G-Class to celebrate 40 years since he made his first at the Master’s Tournament.
This unique example of the G-Class was presented to him ahead of the 2022 Masters Tournament in Augusta, a tournament he has won twice, first in 1985 and his second in 1993.
The G-Class was treated as a canvas by designer and artist, Leah Abucayan, and it tells the story of Langer’s career using tape art.
Bernhard Langer says:
“I am delighted to receive this honor and am impressed by what has been created here. I have a lot in common with the G-Class,” said Langer.
“It already existed when I first competed here [at the Masters] in 1982. Since then, we’ve both stayed true to ourselves, while at the same time always moving with the times and constantly evolving.”
Bettina Fetzer, Head of Communications and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz AG, said :
“This is how we honor two icons – Bernhard Langer and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Bernhard Langer and the G-Class have been shaping the spirit of the time for more than 40 years and are both emblematic of our campaign claim ‘Stronger than Time’”.
For the 15th year, Mercedes-Benz will partner with the Augusta National Golf Club to sponsor this year’s Masters Tournament.
