2,714,458 Passengers Travelled Through Train In 2021; N5.7 Billion Generated – NBS

2,714,458 passengers travelled through train in 2021, according to rail transportation data released by NBS.

A total of 168,301 tons of goods were transported in 2021, up 92.48% compared to the 87,440 recorded in 2020.

Total revenue generated from passengers in 2021 was N5.70 billion, up 226.44% compared with N1.75 billion recorded in 2020.

N317.57 million was also generated from goods, up by 12.87% compared to N281.35 million in 2020.

A total of 2,714,458 passengers travelled by train in Nigeria last year, up by 166.03% compared to 1,020,368 passengers recorded in 2020, according to rail transportation data for 2021 released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The data also revealed that a total of 168,301 tons of goods were transported in 2021, also representing an increase of 92.48% compared to the 87,440 recorded in 2020.

Total revenue generated from passengers in 2021 was N5.70 billion, up +226.44% compared with N1.75 billion recorded in 2020, while N317.57 million was generated from goods, up by 12.87% compared to N281.35 million in 2020.

Other income receipts in 2021 stood at N66.80 million, which was also higher than the N5.19 million recorded in the preceding year.
