Porsche’s Upcoming Supercar May Be An Audi That Is Actually A Lamborghini
Porsche is restructuring to boost profitability, potentially including a new halo supercar based on the Audi Nuvolari platform to succeed the 918 Spyder.
The automaker aims to boost profitability by reducing model overlap and collaborating with VW Group brands, including developing a new model on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion architecture to replace the combustion Macan.
Three years ago, Porsche introduced the Mission X concept, which was intended to serve as an all-electric successor to the 918 Spyder and a direct competitor to the McLaren W1 and Ferrari F80. However, the project has yet to materialize, and the likelihood of its production appears increasingly uncertain.
Recent reports claim that Porsche is prioritizing a mid-engined halo supercar using Audi Nuvolari and Lamborghini Temerario technology. This shift aligns with CEO Michael Leiters’ focus on high-margin sports cars, potentially competing with Ferrari and McLaren while complementing the 911 lineup.
After the summer break, Porsche’s board will decide on a new halo supercar. The 911 will remain combustion-powered and central to the lineup, while the brand expands its bespoke Sonderwunsch program to drive future profits.
