A $300,000 Flying Car That Can Drive And Take You Above Heavy Traffic Get Certified By U.S - autojosh

Alef Model A, ‘the world’s first flying car’ that can take carry one-to-two occupants above traffic, certified by US.

Alef Aeronautics claims it’s electric Model A can transition seamlessly from highway to air to beat heavy traffic.

The electric vehicle has a driving range of 200 miles (322 km) and a flight range of 100 miles (160 km).

California-based Alef Aeronautics has announced that its all-electric, two-seater Alef Model A has received a limited Special Airworthiness Certification from US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), meaning it can legally fly over the United States.

“We’re excited to receive this certification from the FAA,” said Jim Dukhovny, CEO of Alef Aeronautics.

“It allows us to move closer to bringing people an environmentally friendly and faster commute, saving individuals and companies hours each week. This is one small step for planes, one giant step for cars.”

Alef Aeronautics claims that it’s electric Model A with Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) capabilities can transition seamlessly from highway to air to beat heavy traffic.

The Model A has a projected starting price of $300,000 and according to the firm, pre-orders for flying car have been strong for individuals and companies ever since.

Dubbed as ‘the world’s first real flying car’, the vehicle can carry one-to-two occupants. On full charge, it has a driving range of 200 miles (322 km) and a flight range of 100 miles (160km).

Speaking with BBC, Jim Dukhovny, argues most existing vehicles are not strictly flying cars in his opinion.

“A flying car has to be a car, which means it can drive on a regular street, park in a regular parking space. And it also should have vertical take-off,” he told the BBC.

On the pre-order page for the Model A, the company explained that :

“Alef flying car can be driven on a regular urban or rural road. It fits into a regular driving lane and confines to all traffic regulatory conditions. Alef flying car fits into a regular parking space and inside a regular-sized garage.

“Alef “Model A” is a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) which has legal speed and other limitations in most states. The assumption is that, if a driver needs a faster route, a driver will use Alef’s flight capabilities.”
