Activated when all propellers dies during flight, the multi-parachute rescue system is designed to open at 50m above the ground.
The multi-parachute rescue system allows the vehicle to land on the ground safely, leaving it and its occupants unharmed.
First unveiled in Shanghai in July 2021, the Xpeng X2 is a two-seater flying car powered by eight propellers.
Xpeng Aeroht’s X2 can fly up to 35 minutes with a maximum flight speed of 130 kilometers per hour.

Xpeng Aeroht, the aviation arm of Chinese electric carmaker Xpeng Inc, has successfully tested its self-developed multi-parachute rescue system for its fully electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) X2 flying car.
Activated when all propellers dies during flight, the multi-parachute rescue system is designed to open at 50 meters above the ground. It allows the vehicle to land on the ground safely, leaving it and its occupants unharmed.
“XPENG AEROHT’s self-developed multi-parachute rescue system for ultra-low altitude flight has been successfully tested.
“Opening at just 50 meters above the ground, it smoothly descends at a ground speed of 5.2 meters per second, leaving the vehicle unharmed. ?”, the company wrote on its X handle.

Xpeng X2 flying car made its first public flight last year – an unmanned 90-minute test flight at Skydive Dubai during Gitex Global 2022 event in the United Arab Emirates.
“Dubai is a world-renowned ‘City of Innovation’, which is the reason we decided to hold the X2 first public flight event here. Today’s flight is a major step in XPENG’s exploration of future mobility.”, Brian Gu, Vice Chairman and President of XPENG, said following its debut.


First unveiled in Shanghai in July 2021, the X2 is a two-seater flying car powered by eight propellers. It can fly up to 35 minutes with a maximum flight speed of 130 kilometers per hour.
At the time of reveal in 2021, the Chinese company said that the Xpeng X2 electric flying car will be mass-produced in 2024 and priced below 1 million yuan ($139,200).
