FRSC Corps Marshal Sanctions Ondo Sector Commander Over Patrol Vehicle With Worn-out Tyre

Earlier in the week, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sanctioned the Ondo State Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, after a viral video exposed one of the Corps’ patrol vehicles operating with a worn-out tyre.

In a statement released on Sunday, FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, said the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, strongly condemned the violation, stressing that it contravened the FRSC’s core values and operational procedures.

To reinforce accountability, FRSC said that the patrol vehicle involved will be fined for the safety infraction while the Sector Commander will be made to pay the fines for “Driving With Worn-out Tyre”.

“While we commend the public for their watch dog role over the services we provide, it is important to state without any delay that this very act is a complete negation of the core values, as well as Standard Operating Procedures on Vehicles Maintenance for all operational and administrative vehicles of the Corps.

PCNGI Impressed As 360 ECO Group’s CNG Bus Used ₦125k Fuel From Lagos To Abuja, Saved ₦500k

The 360 ECO Group, a Lagos-based manufacture of ECO Green Buses, also paid a visit to the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) in Abuja to promote its CNG-powered buses for public transport operators.

For the interstate travel from Lagos to Abuja, officials of 360 ECO Group used its CNG-powered 12.280 E5 model bus, which they said used just ₦125,000 worth of CNG fuel.

In comparison, the company said a diesel-powered variant of the bus would have used about ₦625,000 worth of fuel for the trip, noting that they saved ₦500,000+ compared to diesel.

“Our discussions explored opportunities to promote their CNG-powered buses for public transport operators, as well as training, maintenance, and potential in-country assembly,” PCNGI said in a statement.
