Alckmin was on official visit to Nigeria last month, during which trade deals worth $1.1B was signed by both countries.
While many see the act as a gesture of courtesy, others interpreted it as a display of weakness, arguing that it is not his duty.

A video of Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, opening the car door for his departing Brazilian counterpart, Geraldo Alckmin, has sparked a debate amongst netizens.
Geraldo Alckmin was on official visit to Nigeria last month for the second session of the Nigeria–Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), during which trade deals worth $1.1 billion was signed by both countries.

Following the signing of the $1.1 billion Green Imperative Agricultural Initiative at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima saw Alckmin off to his waiting car before opening the car door for him enter, an act the Brazilian number two man really appreciated.
While many see the act as a gesture of courtesy as well as a reflection of the Vice President’s personal values, others interpreted it as a display of weakness, arguing that it is not his duty to open car door for the visiting Brazilian Vice President
