In The First Quarter Of 2025, Stellantis Shipments Decreased By 9%.
Stellantis’ vehicle deliveries fell nine percent in the first quarter of 2025 as sales in North America declined. Namely, the vehicle manufacturer’s sales fell to 1.2 million in the January-March period, according to a company statement on Friday.
In North America, the company’s second-largest market after Europe, sales fell 20 percent to 325,000 units, Anadolu Agency reports. Stellantis attributed the decline in the region to calendar effects, such as the long holiday season that slowed production, among other effects.
The company’s statement also highlights that customer orders in the North American region in March were at their best level since July 2023.
It also said that vehicle deliveries in Europe, the company’s largest market, fell by eight percent to 568,000 in the same period. Sales in China, India, and the Asia-Pacific region fell by 20 percent, and in the Middle East and Africa region by 15 percent year-on-year.
Maserati sales continue to fall
Maserati’s sales in the first quarter of 2025 fell by 48 percent compared to the same period last year, to just 1,700 vehicles sold. The latest numbers only confirm a worrying trend for the Italian brand, which saw sales fall by 57 percent last year.
The decline is no surprise for Maserati. CEO Santo Ficilli, hired in October, predicted 2025 would be a bad year as he reorganizes the brand to prepare it for profitability in 2026.
Ficilli’s plan involves organizing a new team within the company, repairing relationships with disgruntled dealers and cutting costs. He acknowledged marketing failures and highlighted the possibility of cutting prices to keep the brand competitive.
That could all change thanks to the Trump administration’s impositions. Stellantis recently brought in management consulting firm McKinsey and Company to examine the future of Maserati and Alfa Romeo, sparking rumors that the two automakers could be sold.
