Porches Claims The Cayenne EV Manages Its Weight Well

The recently presented electric Cayenne, whose mass in the more powerful version is 2,645 kilograms, is the heaviest production model of Porsche to date, which is not particularly surprising if we think of a large SUV with two electric motors that “feed” batteries (113 kWh), whose mass is 600 kilograms.
Not disputing the old saying that kilograms are not a friend of a car’s handling, Porsche says that potential buyers of the electric Cayenne should not worry about the declared weight, because in practice they will not even feel it, which is the result of placing the batteries under the floor, newly developed axles/tires, and superior adaptive suspension that will provide an optimal response in all situations.
“We are proud because we have succeeded in our intention to create an electric Cayenne that gives the driver the feeling that it is 75 kilograms lighter than its namesake with a 4-liter V8 engine,” said Michael Schätzle, the second man on the project of Porsche’s third electric-only model.
As a reminder, the electric Cayenne (which Schätzle also claims handles better than the conventionally driven version) in the standard version has 442 hp and 835 Nm of torque, and one battery charge provides a range of up to 642 kilometers (WLTP). A significantly more powerful version is hidden behind the name Turbo, and two electric motors in this case produce 1,156 HP and 1,500 Nm of torque, which ensures acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 260 km/h.
The electric Cayenne will not remain Porsche’s heaviest car, because it is already known that an even larger SUV with three rows of seats is being prepared in Stuttgart, which will also be offered in a combination driven only by electric motors.
