MG Majestor Sets New Guinness World Record Title For The “Heaviest Train Pulled By A SUV On Rail”
MG Majestor on March 31st set new Guinness World Record title for the “Heaviest Train Pulled By A SUV on Rail”.
Stock MG Majestor SUV pulled a 406.4-tonne (406,400 kg) train over a distance of more than 300 feet (91.44 meters).
The SUV comes equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine, which generates 215-horsepower and 478.5 Nm of torque.
Attempt was aimed at demonstrating the structural strength and towing capability of the unmodified Majestor SUV.

Late last month, a MG Majestor SUV pulled a 406.4-tonne (406,400 kg) train over a distance of more than 300 feet (91.44 meters), to set a new Guinness World Records title for “Heaviest train pulled by a SUV on rail”.
The MG Majestor from India’s JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. completed the train-towing challenge on an operational railway track in Jammu and Kashmir on March 31, just four week ahead of its launch in the Indian market on April 27.

“The engine (weighing 132 tonnes) of the train was connected to 7 bogies, thus making the total weight 406.40 metric tonnes. The car pulled this weight seemingly without much effort,” GWW said in a statement.
“Initial pick up needed a bit of thrust and as momentum was gained, the car could pull the train smoothly. The minimum distance to pull was set to 100 ft but they completed more than 300 ft to be safe.”

The SUV comes equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine (sourced from the higher-end versions of the Gloster), which generates 215-horsepower and 478.5 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4×4 system with locking differentials.
Aimed at demonstrating its structural strength and towing capability, the unmodified Majestor SUV’s feat shattered the previous record of around 100 tonnes set by a Land Rover Discovery in 2016.
