Sanwo-Olu Receives New 24-Car Trains To Boosts Operations Of Lagos Red Line Train Services
Governor Sanwo-Olu receives new 24-Car trains to boosts operations of Lagos Red Line train services.
Train sets expected to strengthen the existing fleet, improve passenger experience across the Red Line corridor.
Operated by LAMATA, the LRMT Red Line stretches 27-km between Agbado in Ogun State and Oyingbo in Lagos State.
Boasting eight stations, the first phase of the Lagos Red Line has reduced travel times to just 55 minutes from close to three hours.


The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has taken delivery of new train sets to boost the operations of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red line train services.
The new train sets, which comprises of 24 passenger coaches, is expected to strengthen the existing fleet and improve passenger experience across the Red Line corridor, Sanwo-Olu said while announcing the delivery in a post on his a X handle.


Governor Sanwo-Olu, who personally received the new diesel-powered Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) at an event organized by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, CRRC Dalian, in China, said :
“We have received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet. This will improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians. We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal”.



Operated by LAMATA, the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line, which turned one last October, stretches 27-kilometer between Agbado in Ogun State and Oyingbo in Lagos State.
Boasting eight stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju and Agbado (in Ogun State), the first phase of the Lagos Red Line has reduced travel times between Agbado and Oyingbo to just 55 minutes from close to three hours.
