Stellantis Wants To Launch An Affordable EV For Europe

The first electric vehicles are anticipated to come off the manufacturing line in 2028. Stellantis announces the start of its innovative, compact, and reasonably priced E-Car project. ‘European’, ’emotive’, ‘electric’, and ‘environmentally friendly’ are all represented by the “E” in E-Car.

The European Commission has acknowledged that this high-potential segment, which will be produced in Europe for Europeans, has the potential to increase jobs in design and manufacturing throughout Europe and play a crucial role in facilitating the broader adoption of fully electric vehicles for useful, everyday city-focused mobility.

In keeping with the genuine European “people mobility” history, the E-Car is a compact, inventive, reasonably priced, and all-electric vehicle that is being created to counteract the recent decline of the small, reasonably priced car market in Europe. Stellantis’ mission to “empower people with brands and products they love and trust” is well embodied by this.

“The electric car is an idea that finds its natural fit in the popularity of small automobiles, which is strongly rooted in our European Stellantis DNA,” said Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis. Customers are demanding a return to compact, fashionable, reasonably priced, and ecologically friendly cars that are proudly manufactured in Europe. With innovative new models for several companies, Stellantis is responding to its call.

Our Pomigliano, Italy, factory is scheduled to start production in 2028. “Stellantis is leveraging the Pomigliano facility’s long history of producing some of the most important and reasonably priced automobiles in Europe, including the beloved Fiat Panda, by awarding manufacture of the electric car to the plant, with the potential for considerable production volumes.”

In order to boost affordability and expedite time-to-market, the electric car models will have cutting-edge designs and be powered by globally recognised BEV technology that will be developed with specific partners.
