Renault, Thales Unveil “4 Troop” Tactical Vehicle Designed For Land Forces Engagements
Renault, Defence Tech Company, Thales, Unveil “4 Troop”, a prototype Tactical Vehicle designed for land Flforces engagements.
Prototype version of the Multi-Role Civil Vehicle with the dual technologies from Thales can operate in all types of terrain in roles.
It can used for reconnaissance, troop coordination, escort, logistical support area surveillance and deployment of UAVs and UGVs.

Renault Group has teamed up with French Defence Technology Company, Thales, to develop 4 TROOP, a prototype version of the VCMR (Multi-Role Civil Vehicle) vehicle adapted to meet new operational requirements for land forces.
The companies plan to present the all-terrain 4 Troop prototype at the 2026 edition of Eurosatory (June 15th – June 19th), the largest international exhibition for the land and air-land defence and security industry.
Renault says that the vehicle has the ability to operate and coordinate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGVs) and can support wide range of operational mission profiles.

“With the VCMR, which draws on the extensive range of Renault Group platforms, we are exploring a pragmatic, sovereign approach to operational mobility to quickly address new armed forces requirements and enhance the ability to anticipate developments and take action in the theatre of operations,” said Franck Naro, Renault’s Engineering Vice President and Vehicle Projects & Operations.
With its hybrid drivetrain and long range capabilities, the 4×4 vehicle with the dual technologies from Thales can operate in all types of terrain in roles, including, reconnaissance, troop coordination, escort, logistical support area surveillance and deployment of UAVs and UGVs.

Thanks to Thales’s Combat Digital Platform, 4 Troop provides land forces with a fully functional mobile command centre that can be configured to match the exact requirements of land forces missions and provide effective mission capabilities.
“Building on existing vehicle software solutions and Thales’s digital platforms, 4 TROOP transforms tactical data into an in-depth, actionable understanding of the environment to anticipate developments, decide and act with greater agility, efficiency and security,’ said Christophe Salomon, Executive Vice President, Secure Communications and Information Systems, Thales.
