A press release by Unit PRO Chief Superintendent Hussaini Abdullahi on Monday, 17 August 2026, attributed the seizures to intelligence-driven operations, risk profiling, strict compliance checks, and targeted interventions against suspicious declarations.
The unit also recovered 12 foreign-used (Tokunbo) vehicles, highlighted by a white Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G-Wagon) SUV, a silver Lexus RX 350 Crossover SUV, and a red BMW X6 coupe-SUV.
The Comptroller of the Unit, Gambo Aliyu, stated that the enforcement operations were aimed at protecting the domestic economy, supporting local industries, and safeguarding national food security.
He noted that the interception of illicit drugs and controlled substances would contribute significantly to protecting public health, while the recovery of elephant tusks reinforced the Service’s efforts to combat illegal wildlife trafficking.
Aliyu further revealed that the revenue recovery underscored the Unit’s determination to identify and reclaim funds lost through under-declarations, false declarations, and other forms of customs fraud.
He urged importers, exporters, and licensed customs agents to make accurate declarations and comply with extant customs laws and regulations.
“Collective compliance and vigilance remain essential to consolidating the gains recorded in revenue recovery, border protection, public safety and national economic development,” Aliyu said.
