Cadillac Set To Join Formula 1 As The Sport’s 11th Team In 2026

Cadillac to join the grid as 11th team from 2026 after Formula 1 reached an agreement in principle with GM.
GM in a statement also announced plans to build its own F1 vehicles and power units by the end of the decade.
American luxury marque, Cadillac, is set to become the eleventh (11th) F1 racing team on the grid in 2026 after its parent company, General Motors (GM), and TWG Global reached an agreement in principle with Formula 1.
“General Motors and Cadillac’s commitment to this project is an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport. We look forward to seeing the progress and growth of this application, certain of the full collaboration and support of all the parties involved,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.

In addition to the landmark move into the world’s most prestigious motorsports competition, the American automaker also announced plans to build its own Formula One cars and power units by the end of the decade.
“This is a global stage for us to demonstrate GM’s engineering expertise and technology leadership at an entirely new level,” said GM President Mark Reuss.
“It’s an honor for General Motors and Cadillac to join the world’s premier racing series, and we’re committed to competing with passion and integrity to elevate the sport for race fans around the world,” he added.
“Together, we’re assembling a world-class team that will embody American innovation and deliver unforgettable moments to race fans around the world,” said Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Global’s motorsports businesses.
