Ford And Geely Set To Enter A Close Partnership

Ford and Geely may be entering into a close partnership. At least, if Reuters’ reporting is to be believed.
Ford and polygamy seem to go well together. It approached Volkswagen for the Explorer and Capri and recently announced an extensive partnership with Renault. Future Ford models will be based on Renault. Now Ford also appears to be flirting with Chinese company Geely, according to a Reuters report based on anonymous sources.
According to Reuters, Geely and Ford are meeting to discuss a potential partnership. The idea is for Geely, a Chinese company, to use Ford’s European factories to produce cars for the European market. They are also reportedly discussing the possibility of collaborating on various technological fronts, including autonomous driving.
In a statement to Reuters, Ford stated that it “continually engages with many companies on a variety of topics” and that “sometimes this leads to concrete results, and sometimes not.” Ford CEO Jim Farley has previously spoken positively about Chinese cars, particularly the Xiaomi SU7. A lack of positive sentiment does not seem to be an obstacle to a potential collaboration between Ford and Geely.
