Says LASG commissioned one single line out of 7-line (light) rail after taking a loan of 1.2 billion dollars.
LASG last week inaugurated the first phase of LRMT Blue Line which stretches 13-kilometres from Marina to Mile 2 area of the state.
The first phase from Marina to Mile 2 covers five Stations, part of the 27-km rail system from Marina to Okokomaiko.

The Blue Line Project started in 2010 during the Fashola administration. It is being undertaken by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), an agency under the Ministry of Transportation established in 2002.
The Blue Rail Line is one several network of robust and modern transport infrastructures that LASG plans to build. The master plan has six rail lines and one monorail, 14 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors, over 20 water routes and a number of major new roads.
While many commend the State Government’s achievement so far on the rail project, Gbadebo Patrick Rhodes-Vivour says that the whole project is well below par.
Rhodes-Vivour is the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Lagos State in the upcoming 2023 election. Taking to his Twitter handle, he tweeted :
“It took 20yrs to lay rail of 16kms out of the 160km. At this rate it will take 230yrs to complete the required 160km. You took a loan of 1.2 billion dollars for a 7-line, 12/13 yrs later your are commissioning one single line out of of this 7-line (light) rail.
Let’s do a comparison pls cos it’s been done severally in Africa. With a total length of 752 kilometers from Djibouti to Adis ababa, a heavy, not light o cost them $4 billion.”
