Japan Used $139,000 Track Bike At Paris 2024 Olympics – Enough To Buy Brand New Porsche 911
Japan’s track bike at Paris 2024 Olympics costs $139,000 – enough to buy a brand a new Porsche 911 sports car.
Named after the Tokyo 2020 Izu Velodrome, the V-Izu TCM-2 bike is one of the world’s fastest track bike.
It is manufactured by Toray Carbon Magic, which produces NASCAR seats, race cars and winged rockets.

The Japanese national cycling team used a new track bike, the V-Izu TCM-2, that cost more than a brand new Porsche 911 sports car at the just concluded Paris Olympics, according to Cycling Weekly.
At £108,000 (about $139,000), the V-Izu TCM-2 was the most expensive track bike at the 2024 Olympics, costing more than Team Australia’s Factor bike, which cost £47,000 ($60k) for the full set-up.

First unveiled in May at the Japan Track Cup competition, the V-Izu TCM-2, named after the Tokyo 2020 Izu Velodrome, is manufactured by Toray Carbon Magic, which produces NASCAR seats, race cars and winged rockets.
The V-Izu TCM-2 has an unusual left-sided drivetrain that “gives you a sense of speed and stability for the first time in your life,” said Benoît Bétoux, technical director of Japan’s high performance centre.
“The first thing that athletes say about this bike is that once you get up to speed, it’s hard to slow down,” he said, adding that “Riding on inertia, the bike picks up speed faster than the person riding the bike thinks.”
