Following this incident and other recent car thefts, the Lagos State Police Command urged vehicle owners to be security conscious.

The Lagos State Police Command has urged vehicle owners to be security conscious after a car wash attendant absconded with a customer’s Honda Pilot Crossover SUV that was handed over to them for cleaning.
The Command’s spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who gave the warning, said detectives from the Alausa Police Division have apprehended the suspect in Sagamu area of Ogun State, adding that the stolen vehicle had been recovered.
“A car wash attendant in Alausa ran away with a customer’s vehicle. Detectives of Alausa Police Division arrested him with the vehicle in Sagamu. Be security conscious always!,” CSP Benjamin Hundeyin wrote.

Detectives of Ilasan Division of the Lagos State Police Command also arrested five suspects for snatching and selling a Toyota Corolla ‘Taxi’ for half a million naira (₦500,000) along with the buyer of the stolen vehicle.
In a statement by the Lagos State Command’s spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen at gunpoint and that the 40 year old buyer had dismantled the car and sold the parts separately.
“He was later arrested in Ibadan. Efforts are ongoing to recover the pistol used in the robbery, trace other vehicles dispose off by the syndicate, and prosecute all the suspects accordingly.”
