Launch Of Bentley’s First All-Electric Car Pushed Back To 2026
Bentley pushed back the production of its first fully-electric vehicle (EV) by a year to 2026.
The delay will be a “matter of months” rather than a full year, said Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark.
Hallmark said it is unconnected with issues that have plagued its VW Group’s software division, Cariad.
When Bentley’s fully electric model arrives in 2026, one of the versions of the new flagship will cost over $250,000.
It will have 1,400 horsepower and will be able to move from standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in around 1.5 seconds).

British luxury marque Bentley Motors has pushed back the production of its first fully-electric vehicle (EV) by a year to 2026, according to CEO Adrian Hallmark who spoke with Automotive News Europe.
The delay will be a “matter of months” rather than a full year, said Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark, adding that it is unrelated with the software issues that have plagued its parent Volkswagen Group’s software division, Cariad.
Brands under the VW Group, including Porsche and Audi, have already confirmed that software delays have pushed back their forthcoming high-end electric vehicles.

While Hallmark never gave the reasons for the delay, he admitted there are difficulties in the development of the battery-powered vehicle.
“We are right in the middle of that process, which is demanding because we have to do pre-development work that we never did with previous programs,” said Hallmark.
When Bentley’s fully electric model arrives in 2026, one of the versions of the new flagship will cost over $250,000, according to a previous statement made by Hallmark. Bentley says it will have 1,400 horsepower and will be able to move from standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in around 1.5 seconds.
