Next-Gen Presidential Limos Could Be Based On Cadillac Escalade As GM Discusses With Secret Service

Next-Gen Presidential Limousines could be based on Cadillac Escalade SUV as GM discusses with Secret Service.

Secret Service has met with GM executives to explore new improvements to its armored fleet of protective vehicles.

This could replace Chevrolet Suburban-variant used to create the current US presidential limousine dubbed “The Beast”.

The U.S. Secret Service has met with General Motors (GM) executives to discuss next-generation armored SUVs as the automaker works on the upcoming version of the presidential limousines.

On its official X page, the Secret Service said that Director Sean Curran met with GM executives to explore new innovations and improvements to its armored fleet of protective vehicles.

“This week, Secret Service Director Sean Curran met with GM executives to discuss advancements that could benefit the next generation of armored SUVs.”

“Transporting our leaders and dignitaries requires constant innovation. As threats evolve, we continue to explore emerging technologies to ensure our armored vehicles provide the highest level of safety for our protectees,” the Secret Service added.

Reuters reports that in September, the Homeland Security Department and Secret Service awarded GM a $14.8 million for development of the next-gen presidential limousine nicknamed “The Beast” – which could be worth up to $40.8 million through 2029.

“We are too far out to speak to any specific costs or dates,” a Secret Service spokesperson told Reuters earlier this week.

“Our engineering, protective operations and technical security teams work for years to develop the state-of-the-art framework that is used to produce these highly advanced vehicles.”
