SAGLEV Launches MHERO 917 Into Nigerian Market, Off-road Electric SUV Will Be Assembled Locally
SAGLEV Motors launches M-Hero 917 into Nigerian market, off-road electric vehicle will Be assembled locally.
917 comes in two versions, the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).
The BEV version is equipped four electric motors and a battery-pack that allows a maximum range up to 450 km (280 miles).
EREV version has petrol engine as a generator, which powers 3 motors. It has total range of up to 750 km (466 miles).

Nigeria’s electric vehicle assembler, SAGLEV Motors, in partnership with China’s Dongfeng Automobile Co. Ltd., has officially launched the M-Hero 917 5-seater electric SUV into the lucrative Nigerian automotive market.
At the unveiling ceremony held at the Alliance Française in Ikoyi, Lagos on July 16th 2025, SAGLEV announced that the hulking off-road-ready electric ultra-luxury SUV will be locally assembled at its plant Nigeria.

In attendance at unveiling includes Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Joseph Osanipin, represented by Engr. Abdullahi Ayinde, Director of Vehicle Electrification.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Ayinde emphasized the Council’s dedication to accelerating e-mobility adoption, adding that “the growing interest from consumers and global investors reflects the strength of our national EV policy framework”.
In his presentation, the CEO of SAGLEV Motors, Dr. Falaye commended the Federal Government and NADDC for their progressive automotive policies, noting that “this milestone would not be possible without the enabling policies that foster innovation and local assembly”.


Per the brochure on SAGLEV’s website seen by Autojosh, the M-Hero 917 comes in two versions – the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).
The BEV is equipped four electric motors and a battery-pack that allows a maximum range up to 450 km (280 miles) per charge. DC Fast Charging allows 30–80% in under 47 minutes.


The EREV (Hybrid Model) has an 194-hp 1.5L inline-four turbocharged petrol engine as a generator, which powers three motors and churns out 804-horsepower. It boasts a total range of 750 km (466 miles).
Safety and driver aids includes 360° Camera with Blind Spot and Cross-Traffic Alerts, Auto Emergency Braking + Forward Collision Warning, Lane Assist + Lane Departure Warning, All-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition + Highway Assist.
