Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung: Sold-Out 646-HP Collector’s Item Limited To Just 30 Units
Mercedes-Benz’s performance division, Mercedes-AMG, on September 10, 2026, unveiled the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung (Special Edition), a radically reworked, road-legal performance coupé and the second model in Mercedes-Benz’s ultra-exclusive Mythos series, following the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung began with the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 as its basis, but has been extensively transformed with a wider body, extensive carbon-fibre components, bespoke aerodynamic elements and a heavily revised chassis to create a more focused performance machine.
Power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 646-hp and 850 Nm of torque. Unlike the all-wheel-drive CLE 53, the CLE 646 sends its power exclusively to the rear wheels. It also gets an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, adjustable coilover suspension and high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes.
The 646-hp AMG CLE performance coupé accelerates from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in just 11.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 310 km/h (193 mph), putting it firmly in supercar territory.
The interior has also been heavily reworked to reduce weight. The rear seats, acoustic insulation and several comfort and driver-assistance features have been removed, while the sound system has been simplified. The cabin features a DINAMICA microfiber-covered steering wheel with a flattened shape inspired by motorsport, alongside lightweight racing-focused equipment.
Production of the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is limited to just 30 units worldwide, making it one of the rarest modern Mercedes-AMG models and an exceptionally exclusive collector vehicle. Each example is hand-built at Mercedes-AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach.
Mercedes-AMG has not disclosed the official price of the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, but said the “extremely desirable product” was “sold out even before its world premiere.” The regular Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 starts at $78,850 in the U.S., although the limited-production CLE 646 is expected to command a substantial premium.
“The extensive use of carbon fiber enabled us to create a particularly striking design language that is otherwise virtually impossible. The confident proportions and the size of the grille underscore the ambition to present a vehicle of extremes. The result is a statement full of performance and character,” said Bastian Baudy, Chief Design Officer at Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
