The Topaz Midlands studio has just completed a full paint protection film installation on the record-setting Bugatti W16 Mistral, the very same car that reached 453.91 km/h (282 mph) in the hands of Bugatti Pilote Officiel Andy Wallace in November 2024, setting the open-top car world speed record.

The well-deserved paint protection comes just over two months after Bugatti officially handed over the Mistral to its owner, Reuben Singh, at the Silverstone Grand Prix over the July 2–5 weekend. The handover marked the beginning of the car’s new life in The Singh Collection.

Bugatti W16 Mistral: $16.3M World’s Fastest Open-Top Car Gets Paint Protection Film“We’re proud to protect every single car in @the.singhcollection, and it was a pleasure to add this one to the list,” The Topaz Midlands said, referring to the impressive “The Singh Collection”, which includes the three other vehicles from Bugatti’s World Record Car Collection.

While the base Mistral starts at around $5 million, this unique W16 Mistral “World Record Car” cost €14 million ($16.3 million), thanks to the unlimited options available through its bespoke Sur Mesure programme, including the vibrant ‘Jet Orange’—an unmistakable accent that continues into the interior.

The historic car is one of only 99 ever made. The W16 Mistral features Bugatti’s iconic 8.0-litre W16 engine, which first appeared in the 2005 Veyron and later powered the Chiron and Divo hypercars before propelling the Mistral to become the world’s fastest open-top car.

For the record-breaking run, Bugatti modified the body panel gaps of the one-off W16 Mistral “World Record Car” to optimise airflow and removed the speed limiter to unleash the full power of the brand’s now-discontinued 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine.

Also part of “The Singh Collection” are the World Record Editions of the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse and Chiron Super Sport 300+—a trio of hypercars that joined the W16 Mistral for a photoshoot following its record-breaking run.
