No casualties reported as LBSL BRT bus heading towards Oshodi catches fire on 3rd Mainland Bridge.
LBSL says bus consumed by fire despite the prompt response of good Samaritans and emergency responders.
As of June 2024, LBSL, one of the operators of BRT buses in Lagos, boasts of over 30 routes and 300 buses.

Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), one of the operators of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses in Lagos State, has confirmed that one of its buses was involved in a fire incident on Tuesday January 6, 2026 on the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge.
In a statement, LBSL stated that the incident occurred at approximately 1pm while the bus with code number 240057 was heading towards Oshodi from Obalende.
While confirming that there was no casuality or injury during incident, LBSL said that bus was consumed by fire despite the prompt response of good Samaritans and emergency responders.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to the brave individuals, including the Honorable Commissioner for Transportation Lagos State, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who assisted during the incident,” said Mr. Idowu Oguntona, Managing Director/CEO of LBSL.
LBSL said comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, adding that it will take all necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.
“We will provide updates on the investigation’s findings and any subsequent actions,” Managing Director/CEO of LBSL added.
LBSL, which boasts of over 30 routes and 300 buses as of June 2024, added that it “remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation services to the people of Lagos.”
