One-off Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque Debut With World’s First Laser-engraved Bonnet

The first-ever laser-engraved Rolls-Royce bonnet has debuted on the all-new Phantom Arabesque – a one-of-one Phantom Extended commissioned by Private Office Dubai, that celebrates the forms and geometry of traditional mashrabiya latticework.
The Phantom Arabesque is finished in a bespoke two-tone paint, with the main body in Diamond Black and the upper surfaces in contrasting Silver – the latter hue also used for the single hand-painted Short Coachline elevated with a mashrabiya motif.

But the highlight on the exterior is the richly textured, three-dimensional bonnet surface designed to catch the “light and invites exploration: a pattern intended to be discovered by both the eye and the hand.”
Developed over a period of 5 years, the technique involves engraving the geometric mashrabiya pattern to a depth of just 145–190 microns into the uppermost surface of the black-finished – revealing the darker tone beneath.

“Laser engraving allows us to create a surface that is both technically precise and visually alive,” said Tobias Sicheneder, General Manager at Exterior Surface Centre.
“Developing this patented process required years of experimentation by the entire team. Phantom Arabesque is the first expression of a technique that opens entirely new creative possibilities for future clients.”

The Phantom Arabesque’s cabin is finished in serene Selby Grey and Black leathers with Black seat piping and carpets, elevated by contrasting Black mashrabiya motifs embroidered on the front and rear headrests.
But the Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque’s interior centrepiece is the bespoke mashrabiya artwork presented within the Gallery (dashboard), which runs the full width of the front fascia.

“Mashrabiya is one of the Middle East’s best-known and most enduring design languages. For Phantom Arabesque, we were inspired not only by its beauty but also by the privacy, light and airflow it creates. Our aim was to interpret these qualities in ways that feel both culturally rooted and unmistakably Rolls-Royce,” said Michelle Lusby, Bespoke Lead Designer at Private Office Dubai.
Like every bespoke creation from Rolls-Royce Private Offices around the world, the one-off Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque reflects not only the owner’s vision but also the craftsmanship, design and engineering of the marque’s Bespoke Collective.
