Renault Recorded Sales Growth Of Almost 2% In The First-Half of 2024
French carmaker Renault said its first-half sales rose 1.9% year-on-year due to the strong results of its hybrids in Europe, its key region.
The company sold 1,154,700 vehicles globally, compared to 1,133,478 units last year, with almost three-quarters of that volume going to Europe. It said sales in Europe rose 6.7%, outpacing market growth of 5.5%, with electrified vehicles accounting for 29.6% of group sales in the region, up 4.3 points from 2023.
Renault returned to growth last year after four consecutive years of falling unit sales, and it hopes 10 new launches this year will continue the momentum. However, volume sales slowed in the second quarter after a 2.6% increase in the first quarter.
The company highlighted a “very strong result” of its Renault hybrids in Europe, but overall Renault passenger car volumes fell 2% compared to the first half of last year to 573,149 units, with a much faster growth of 14.6% in light commercial vehicles.
Sales of its Dacia brand increased by 3.8%.
