Sales Of Mercedes-Benz S-Class And EQS Limousines Fell In H1 2024
Mercedes sold 136,900 top-end luxury cars in the first half (1H) of 2024, 22% less than the sales in same period in 2023.
In the first six months of 2024, Mercedes sold 7,000 EQS (14,100 H1 2023) while 28,100 customers took delivery of S-Class (25%).
According to reports, the decline was due to the poor performance of its flagship S-Class and its all-electric EQS variant.
Despite the decline, Mercedes said S-Class remains the undisputed market leader in its segment in all major markets.
Mercedes-Benz sold 136,900 units in the top-end luxury category in the first half (1H) of 2024, which is 22 per cent less than the sales in same period in 2023 due to the poor performance of its flagship S-Class and its all-electric EQS variant.
In the first six months of 2024, the German car giant sold just 7,000 EQS units, compared to the 14,100 units sold in the same period in 2023 – likely due to declining interest of electric vehicles around the world.

During the same period, Mercedes also delivered only 28,100 S-Class’ to customers, which is 25% less than the first half of 2023 – though it said it remained the undisputed market leader in its segment in all major markets.
Mercedes-Benz models in the top-end luxury category includes the flagship S-Class, EQS, Mercedes-AMG, GLS, Mercedes-Maybach as well as the G-Class, including the newly launched all-new electric G-Class.
While Top-End Q2 sales increased by 6% compared to Q1, it is 4% less compared to the same quarter of the previous year “mainly due to model changeovers and a subdued market environment in Asia, Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.
“Sales and the model mix are expected to improve in the second half of the year, supported by further market launches of new models particularly in the Top-End segment,” Ola Kaellenius, Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
