Police in Greater Manchester (GMP) have seized a Tesla Cybertruck fitted with an Albanian number plates, citing that the hulking all-electric truck isn’t certified for use on UK roads in the country due to concerns over pedestrian safety.

In a post on Facebook, GMP also explained that the Tesla Cybertruck was registered and insured abroad. It noted that the owner will have to prove their ownership and insurance in order to get the car released.

“The Tesla Cybertruck is not road-legal in the UK and does not hold a certificate of conformity.”

“The driver was a permanent UK resident but the vehicle was registered and insured abroad which is prohibited in the UK,” the GMP added.

Among reasons why the Cybertruck doesn’t comply with UK road safety laws is its ultra-hard stainless-steel body and angular lines. This could cause a lot of damage in the event of a collision with pedestrians, cyclists and smaller vehicles.

“Whilst this may seem trivial to some, legitimate concerns exist around the safety of other road users or pedestrians if they were involved in a collision with the Cybertruck,” the Greater Manchester Police noted.

According to local reports, other reasons why Tesla Cybertruck doesn’t comply with UK road safety laws is its all red indicators and brake lights.
