Sales of Brand New Rolls-Royce Cars Are Flourishing In Russia Despite Western Sanctions

Despite western sanctions, sales of luxury Rolls-Royce cars in Russia have reportedly surged 39% in the first 9-months of 2024.
Russians bought a total of 99 Rolls-Royces between January and September, with the Cullinan becoming the most popular model.
The second most popular Rolls-Royce was Specter EV, followed by Ghost and then Phantom, which starts at $1M in Russia.

Amid international sanctions, sales of high-value Rolls-Royce cars are flourishing in Russia, despite the West’s continuous attempts to block import routes of high-end goods into the country, following its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
While direct British car exports to Russia have fallen to zero since 2022, State-backed website RT reports that sales of Rolls-Royces jumped by 39 percent in the first nine months of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.

“Russians bought a total of 99 Rolls-Royce cars between January and September, with the Cullinan SUV becoming the most popular model. Sales of the luxury vehicle worth over $1 million soared by 27% after 59 Cullinan SUVs were bought by Russia’s rich,” RT said, citing automobile registration statistics.
According to RT, the second most popular vehicles among wealthy Russians was the Rolls-Royce Specter, followed by the Ghost sedan. The flagship Phantom limousine was the fourth most popular Rolls-Royce, which has a starting price of $1 Million in Russia.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and Bentley Motors had earlier insisted that they are no longer selling its high-value cars to Russia. BMW-owned Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, which delivered 5,712 luxury cars to clients in 2024, said :
“Rolls-Royce Motor Cars ceased production and supply of cars for the Russian market in late February 2022, before international trade sanctions were put in place. In the meantime, governments have implemented far-reaching sanctions, which we fully comply with and support.”
Rolls-Royce Ghost
“If any new Rolls-Royce motor car has been imported into Russia since late February 2022 this has been done so without the knowledge or support of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.”
A representative from Bentley, owned by VW, said:
“We are committed to full compliance with all current and future trade sanctions and there is no evidence to suggest a lack of compliance with existing sanctions, or indeed a change of sales trend in Azerbaijan.”
