Egypt on Saturday held a spectacular parade to transport mummified remains of 22 Egyptian pharaohs to their new resting place at National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, Cairo.

Queen Hatshepsut, the most powerful female pharaoh, Queen Ahmose-Nefertari, daughter of Pharaoh Seqenenre Tao II, and Ramses II, who ruled Egypt for 67 years, were among the mummies on the journey.

Dubbed the ‘Pharaohs’ Golden Parade’, the pharaohs, the 18 kings and four queens were transported in climate-controlled cases loaded onto trucks. The twenty-two (22) customized golden-finished trucks were decorated with wings and pharaonic designs.

The pharaohs were originally buried around 3,000 years ago in secret tombs in the Valley of Kings and the nearby Deir el-Bahri site.
