Coronavirus: Buhari To Ban Inter-State Travel, Close Motor Parks

The Mohammadu Buhari-led administration has announced plans to ban inter-state travel. The plan also includes a possible closure of motor parks. This measure is one of the strategies to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus.

The announcement was made earlier today by the Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed at a press briefing in Abuja.

“It is now time for enforcement,” he said.

Recall that, last week, the Federal Government of Nigeria issued a travel ban on 13 countries worldwide. This is due to the constant coronavirus spreading globally. The countries affected are countries that have more than 1,000 cases. The Federal Government is also temporarily suspending all visas issued to nationals from these countries. Nigerians arriving from these countries will be subjected to supervised isolation for 14 days.

Affected countries include China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, the United States of America, Norway, the United Kingdom, Netherlands & Switzerland.

Also, earlier this week, the Mohammadu Buhari-led government has announced the closure of all land borders around Nigeria. The closure will last for four weeks.

The Federal Government made this on Monday evening. The border closure will serve as a measure to check the spread of coronavirus.
