The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) commissions Nigeria’s first solar powered electric vehicle charging station in Sokoto.

The National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, has commissioned Nigeria’s first solar powered electric vehicle charging station. The commisioning took place today at the Uthman Dan Fodio University, Main campus, in Sokoto. Meanwhile, the building of the station was in collaboration with Uthman Dan Fodio University.

No doubt, this is an indication that Nigeria is upgrading to the standard of European automobile company. Recall that Europe, Asia and other foreign countries are shifting from producing vehicles that use petrol to that of Solar.

NADDC had earlier invited the general public to grace the occasion which took place in Sokoto, today.

NADDC made this known via its twitter account with the caption:

“The National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Invites the General public to the commissioning of the First Solar Powered Electric Vehicle Charging Station in Nigeria Date: Thursday 8th April 2021 Venue: Usmanu Danfodio University,Main Campus, Sokoto Time: 10:00am”

A charging station is a machine that supplies electric energy to charge plug-in electric vehicles. This includes cars, neighborhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses and others.

Some electric vehicles have on-board converters that plug into a standard electrical outlet or a higher voltage outlet. Others use custom charging stations.





Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of standards. For common direct current rapid charging, chargers has multiple adaptors. The adaptors include Combined Charging System (CCS), CHAdeMO, and AC fast charging.

Public charging stations have their locations on the street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities and parking areas.
