Car Free Day : LASG To Boost Non-motorised Transport Infrastructures, Including Bicycle Lanes
Car Free Day : Lagos State Government (LASG) announces plans to boost non-motorised transport infrastructure in Lagos.
Says bicycle parking included in the construction of some of terminals to encourage the citizenry to embrace NMT.
LASG reaffirm that bicycles lanes will be created for Cyclists on the road to encourage the use of bicycles.

The Lagos State Government has announced the construction of certain infrastructure to ensure the seamless implementation of the Non-Motorised Transport Plan (NMT).
Speaking at the State maiden edition of “Car Free Day”, the Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, revealed that bicycle parking has been included in the construction of some of terminals to encourage Lagosians to embrace NMT.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the Car Free Day was an avenue to make Non-Motorised transportation equitable, effective and sustainable in the State.

Sanwo-Olu also re-affirmed that bicycles lanes will be created for Cyclists on the road to encourage the use of bicycles which will benefit the public by ensuring pollution-free environments, road safety and improved health for every individual regardless of their age.
The representative of the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Osa Konyeha, also revealed that the Agency has concluded the first phase of implementation of the Lagos Sidewalk Pilot Project on Catholic Mission Street/Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). He said that the project has enhanced walking access to St. Nicholas Hospital, Kings College, Lagos High Court, Federal Court of Appeal and Tafawa Balewa Square.
He assured that plans were underway to implement a cycling pilot project that will traverse Eti-Osa LG and Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.
