Dodge Set To Challenge The Ford Maverick With New Rampage Small Truck
You probably know Ram mainly from large pick-ups like the 1500, but the brand also produces various considerably more compact models. Introducing the Ram Rampage, a new mid-sized pickup with proven engineering. It is a possible competitor for the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Ram sells much more than large pickups such as the 1500, 2500, and 3500. In addition to vans such as the ProMaster Van (Fiat Ducato), ProMaster City (previously Doblò), and ProMaster Rapid (Fiorino), the Stellantis brand has smaller pickups on the international menu. Think of the Fiat Strada-based Ram 700 and the Ram 1000 which is actually a Fiat Toro. In Brazil, Ram has now presented the Rampage. That car is on the same base that is also under the Jeep Compass, Jeep Commander, and Alfa Romeo Tonale. The name Ram goes back to the Rampage that the group company Dodge sold between 1982 and 1983.
The Ram Rampage comes on the market in Brazil at least with a 170 hp 2.0 diesel but also appears with a blown 2.0 four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 272 hp and 400 N. With that machine, the Rampage – in R/T trim – sprints to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds. Its top speed is 220 km/h. Regardless of the power source chosen, you get a nine-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is standard. The appearance of the Rampage is striking, it shows strong similarities with its larger 1500 brother. It is 5.03 meters long, 1.89 meters wide, and has a wheelbase of just under 3 meters. For the time being, Ram only produces the Rampage at its Brazilian Goiana Pernambuco factory. It would also be an interesting model for the North American market. In the country, the Rampage could cross swords with the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz. At least in the United States, Ram has already started testing with the Rampage.
