Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase Sets New Towing Record At Goodwood Festival Of Speed
Renewably-fuelled Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) sets new towing record at Goodwood Festival Of Speed.
Bentley says record time of 1 min 21 secs is unofficial as the run was completed ahead of the start of the Festival of Speed.
Notes that the 2.5 tonnes of straw hauled to the top of hill can produce 1,100 miles-worth of fuel that the Bentayga EWB can run on.
Record-setting Bentayga EWB and its trailer are currently on display in the Cathedral Paddock at the Festival of Speed.
A Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase towing 2.5 tonnes of straw in a specially-prepared trailer has set a new Goodwood record after completing the famous hill climb in just 1 minute 21 seconds (81 seconds).
The run by the Bentayga EWB – the fastest for a car and trailer – was completed on 2nd-gen renewable fuel made from agricultural waste straw, meaning an 85% reduction in carbon emissions on a well-to-wheels basis.
According to Bentley, the record time set by its latest flagship Bentayga EWB is unofficial as the run was completed ahead of the start of the Festival of Speed for safety reasons.
Bentley notes that the 2.5 tonnes of straw hauled to the top of hill can produce 1,100 miles-worth of fuel that the Bentayga EWB and indeed all Bentleys can run on without modification.
The record-setting Bentley Bentayga EWB and its trailer are currently on display in the Cathedral Paddock at the Festival of Speed. A short film covering the run will also be shown during the event, according to Bentley.
To create the latest flagship Bentayga EWB, Bentley stretched the wheelbase of the base SUV by seven inches (180 mm) to create more space that it says is longer than any rival, including the Rolls-Royce Cullinan by over 40 mm.
Bentayga EWB is powered by Bentley’s proven 4.0-litre, turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which developes 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a top speed of 180 mph and 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
