No casualty recorded during a tanker fire that consumed 11 vehicles at Ijora area of Lagos State.
Combined efforts of LASEMA and its Fire Unit (LRU Fire), LSFRS and NEMA was able to put the inferno under control.
A fully laden 45,000 litre tanker crashed into another tanker and a faulty containerized trailer on Thursday after experiencing a mechanical fault while ascending a bridge in Ijora area of Lagos State.
The crash resulted in an instant explosion and fire, according to Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). Fortunately, no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded in this unfortunate accident.
The combined efforts of the operatives of LASEMA and its Fire Unit (LRU Fire) Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, NEMA, LNSC, FRSC, LASTMA and the Nigeria Police was able to put the inferno under control.
A post disaster assessment carried out by the Agency’s Response Team revealed that 11 vehicles was consumed by the inferno. LASEMA listed cars, 2 mini busses, 2 tankers, 1 tipper truck, 3 flat bed articulated trucks laden with containers.
The Agency’s heavy duty Crane, forklift, Lowbed and hiab were used to recover and evacuate the burnt vehicles off the road to restore vehicular activities along the axis.
“Upon arrival of the Agency’s Response Team at the incident scene, a pile up of vehicles including two petrol tankers were found to be on fire.
“Further investigations revealed that one of the tankers was ascending the bridge when it rolled back onto the other tanker and other vehicles. The collision impact resulted in the inferno.
