Drivers Sell Used Tesla Cybertrucks More Expensive Than New Models?!
Tesla’s Cybertruck is selling well. It fared better than other large electric pickups in the market and was the best-selling vehicle in the US over $100,000 this summer. Currently, almost 300 used Tesla Cybertruck models are sold on Autotrader, writes Autopian, and most of them have higher prices than new vehicles.
The new Tesla Cybertruck drivers can be bought for $79,990, and the three-engine Cyberbeast costs $99,990. However, those who were among the first to buy a Cybertruck paid a much higher price. Back then, the pick-up was significantly more expensive (starting model around $120,000). In the first months of new vehicle sales, used vehicles were even more expensive than new ones, but times have changed.
There are several examples on the used vehicle portal Autotrader. In Dallas, a Cybertruck is sold by Premier Autos. The base Cybertruck has just over 9,000 km on it, and the seller is asking $101,994. One Cyberbeast with only 750 km sells for $119,000. All these prices are higher than brand-new vehicles. One owner is selling a low-mileage Cybertruck for as much as $152,000. There are many more such examples.
Despite the solid sales figures of the new Cybertrucks, many newly produced vehicles are gathering dust in warehouses and parking lots. That is why these prices of used vehicles do not make much sense. Classical economic model: supply greatly exceeded demand.
