Driver Miraculously Rescued Alive As 40ft Container Falls On Toyota Camry At Mile 2

Truck conveying a 40-ft loaded container falls on a Toyota Camry sedan at Mile 2 area, en route to Apapa.
Luckily, the trapped driver of the Toyota Camry was rescued alive, thanks to the swift response of emergency services.
The victim received immediate medical attention after being rushed to the hospital by the joint rescue team.
A truck conveying a 40-ft loaded container on Monday 25th November 2024 (today) fell onto a Toyota Camry sedan with registration number “LSR 293 HJ” at the Mile 2 area of Lagos State, en route to Apapa.
Luckily, the trapped driver of the Toyota Camry was rescued alive, thanks to the swift response of emergency services, including the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
In a statement, LASTMA said that the victim received immediate medical attention after being rushed to the hospital by the joint rescue team. The agency also revealed that mangled Toyota Camry has been successfully removed from beneath the container.
“Through the swift and coordinated response of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other emergency services, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the driver of the vehicle was rescued alive.”
“Following the rescue, the Toyota Camry was successfully removed from beneath the container. Efforts to evacuate the fallen container are in full swing, while LASTMA Officers continue to manage the scene to ease traffic congestion and restore normalcy.”
Reacting to the incident, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, reiterated the critical importance of proper container securing by truck drivers and owners.
LASTMA boss stressed that negligence in this regard endangers lives and property, urging strict compliance with road safety protocols to avert such catastrophic occurrences.
